outreach sewing for dignity

The sewing group meets once a month in the church basement – alternating Monday evenings (6pm – 9pm) and Saturday mornings (9am – noon) from September to June.

Our aim is to sew clothing for children and to help provide feminine hygiene packs for women in third world countries.

The group is in its 10th year, having been established after the earthquake in Haiti, and welcomes all those who have a heart for helping to preserve the dignity of those in need. Most of the items made still go to Haiti but clothing has also been distributed to the Philippines, Belize, Tanzania and Moldavia.

Sewing skills are not necessarily required as there are many ways to help, e.g., cutting out fabric; pinning; ironing; sorting; packing, etc.
